Is your home a smart home?
Have you been thinking about adding interactive smart home features to your home to add comfort and give you more control over your home’s surroundings? One of the easiest ways to begin to transform your home to a smart home is to add a smart thermostat. Nest offers two types of thermostats, the Nest Thermostat E and the Nest Learning Thermostat. Here we will compare the two and discuss how installing Nest thermostats can expand the control you have over your home’s temperature and comfort.
Nest Thermostat E
The Nest Thermostat E is simple to use. It’s programmable and will automatically turn itself down when you go to sleep and warm your home up before you get up in the morning. You can control your home’s temperature from anywhere by adding the free Nest app to your smartphone, so you never have to worry about whether you forgot to turn the thermostat when you left the house. Check the temperature of your home from work at any time. It’s easy!
The Nest app will show you how much energy your home uses every day to heat or cool itself in Energy History and will produce a Home Report for you every month so you can track your energy usage and see where you can make adjustments.
Nest Learning Thermostat
Taking things to the next level, the Nest Learning Thermostat has the advantage of monitoring how you adjust your thermostat and, within a week, learning to reproduce those patterns so you never have to touch the thermostat yourself or bother with programming it.
The Nest Learning Thermostat is ENERGY STAR certified – the first thermostat to be certified.
This thermostat can detect whether anyone is home by the location of your smartphone and the use of sensors. When the house is empty, it will automatically adjust the temperature higher or lower to save you energy and money.
According to case studies, either Nest thermostat can help homeowners save up to 12 percent on heating bills and 15 percent on cooling bills, paying for itself over time. Both of these thermostats will work with most 24V heating and cooling systems. This includes gas, electric, forced air, heat pump, radiant oil, hot water, solar, and geothermal systems.
